Established in 1928, we’ve played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s aviation history. Where Legends Take Flight JRD Tata, the Father of Indian Aviation: Trained at the Bombay Flying Club in 1929, becoming the first person to receive a pilot’s license in India. Rabia Futehally, India’s First Woman Pilot: Earned her Private Pilot Licence from our esteemed institution, and today serves on our managing committee. A Pioneering Spirit We hold the unique distinction of being the only flying club in the world to undertake a cross-country international flight from Bombay to London and back, using four Tiger Moth aircraft in the 1930s. Innovation thrives here. Club member R. Levy indigenously built the “Monsoon” aircraft, which successfully flew for over 50 hours. Another member, Rev.
