SIDDHARTH COLLEGE OF ARTS, SCIENCE & COMMERCE College Building Siddharth College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mumbai is the first premier educational institute established under the umbrella of People’s Education Society (PES) by founder chairman Late Bharat-Ratna Dr. B. R. AMBEDKAR (M.A., Ph.D., D.Sc. (London), LL.D. (Columbia), D.Lit. (Osmania) Barat-Law) on 20th June 1946. The establishment of this college opened a new chapter in the history of higher education of Maharashtra. The objective of the PES in starting this institution is to cater the educational needs of the growing population of this cosmopolitan city in general and to promote higher education among the SC, ST and other backward communities in particular. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar founded the People’s Education Society on 8th July 1945. The society established its first educational institution, Siddharth College of Arts & Science on 20th June, 1946. Initially classes were conducted in the morning in the barracks, meant for soldiers, at Marine Lines for nearly five years.
